What is Housing Training?
Our housing and property courses support professionals already working in the commercial and private sectors to take the next step in their careers due to the new Competence and Conduct Standard coming into effect from October 2026.
Through a blend of structured learning and real-world application, you’ll develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to progress into leadership roles set by the new legislation.
The new Competence and Conduct Standard requires housing providers to ensure their senior professionals, those who directly deliver social housing services, hold or are working towards a recognised housing management qualification.
Meeting that requirement means investing in structured professional development at the right levels. The Level 4 Certificate in Housing and Level 5 Diploma in Housing are designed specifically for supervisors, managers, and senior leaders, strengthening leadership capability, regulatory awareness, and the ability to deliver services that are both effective and compliant.
Structured learning is a key part of upskilling within housing; it includes dedicated time during working hours for learners to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for their role, away from day-to-day responsibilities.
This learning is tailored to each programme, ensuring it is relevant to the level and supports progression into more senior roles. Through a combination of guided study, practical application, and assessment, learners build confidence and capability they can apply directly in the workplace.
Employer support is essential; by providing time for learning and creating a supportive environment, organisations can ensure their teams develop the skills needed to meet sector standards and deliver high-quality housing services.
Knowledge
The knowledge and skills learners will develop throughout their course will support professional growth and upskilling within the housing sector. Training combines theoretical learning with practical, industry-relevant skills, alongside transferable workplace skills valuable across a range of housing roles.
Skills
Applying new knowledge and skills directly within their housing role. Learners build confidence through training and practical experience, developing not only role-specific abilities but also broader professional skills that support long-term career growth within the housing sector.
Behaviours
Developing professional behaviours and workplace standards within the housing sector. Learners strengthen transferable skills such as teamwork, adaptability, communication, and professionalism, all of which are essential for effective performance and long-term career progression across a range of housing roles.
This supports learners in strengthening essential workplace skills such as communication, numeracy, problem-solving, and digital confidence, as well as the professional behaviours required in modern housing roles.
By embedding these skills into everyday practice, learners are better equipped to deliver high-quality services, respond effectively to housing challenges, and progress with confidence in their careers.
